Matthew F. Girard, 28, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert J. Schimmer officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Girard was born March 14, 1969, in Sioux City, the son of Maynard M. and Dona M. (Wood) Girard. He graduated from West High School. He was studying to be an appraiser. He was serving his apprenticeship at Davenport Realty.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a volunteer with the Knights of Columbus, working toward his membership. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include his mother of Sioux City; a daughter, Tanisha Marie Girard of Sioux City; three brothers, Mark, Martin and Maris Girard, all of Sioux City; and his paternal grandparents, Harvey and Odella Girard of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his father and maternal grandparents.
Pallbearers will include Martin Girard, Mark Girard, Maris Girard, Harvey Girard, Joel Foix, Chris Petersen, and Alex Bender.
