Hartford, SD ~ Colleen M. O’Toole, age 79, died on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Bethany Home in Sioux Falls, SD.   

Colleen Mary Ellis was born on February 13, 1942 in Sioux Falls, SD to Fenton and Genevieve (Berther) Ellis.  She was raised and received her education in Sioux Falls, graduating from Cathedral High School. 

Colleen was united in marriage with Paul W. O’Toole Jr. on February 11, 1964 at Chapel 12 on the Fort Leonard Wood Army Base in Missouri.   Following Paul’s service in the Army, the couple made their home in Tea, SD and were blessed with three sons, Todd, Bill and Jason. 

In 1974, Paul and Colleen opened O’Toole’s Bar in Tea, SD and the couple owned, which the couple owned and operated together until 1987.  Colleen then spent the next 23 years working at Home Federal Bank in Sioux Falls until her retirement.  Colleen and Paul made their home in Hartford, SD in 2001.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of over 57-years, Paul W. O’Toole, Hartford, SD; three sons, Todd O’Toole, Bill O’Toole and his wife Beth, and Jason O’Toole and his wife Kim; six grandchildren, Katie O’Toole, Eilish (fiancé, Josh Forseth) O’Toole, Emelia O’Toole, Tori O’Toole, Caelan O’Toole and Cullen O’Toole; two great grandchildren, Lennon O'Toole and Jonah Forseth; one sister, Jeanne Ann Sattler and her husband John, Chicago, IL; nephew, Timothy Sattler and his wife, Elizabeth, Chicago, IL; and many other relatives and friends.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Fenton and Genevieve Ellis.
