Lane Madison Patton passed away on Aug. 18, 2007, while visiting his childhood home.  He was preceded in death by his father, Darrel Patton.  He is survived by his mother, Mary Patton of Charleston; his brother, Brett Patton of Sissonville; and his sister, Jessie Sutton of Elk Ridge, Utah.  One of the most precious of his gifts was helping and enhancing the quality of life for his handicapped brother, Derry Shane Patton.  He was an avid Marshall football fan.  He had recently met his girlfriend, Kim, who suited him both ideologically and spiritually.  He had come to love Austin, Kim's son, as his own. He will be sadly missed by all those whose lives he affected with his charm, kindness and his graciousness to all, be they poor, rich, educated or uneducated. 

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston.  Burial was in the Jenkins family cemetery, Charleston.
