Liz Cheney is willing to give up political power for truth.
Kevin McCarthy is willing to give up truth for political power.
Liz Cheney understands and values how democracy works,
and respects our place of leadership in the world.

To realize the Facebook Oversight Board is not willing to amplify the big LIE perpetrated by Trump and McCarthy and Scalise and that Liz Cheney is not fighting her imminent ouster from House leadership should be all we need to know about a certified election.

If truth no longer matters to Americans, we might as well acknowledge the American Experiment has failed and we are not capable of self-government.

Democracy is faltering.
It's under attack by one of our major political parties.

Efforts to strengthen the Republican Party:
allegiance to a lie

Thumbs up to Liz Cheney: "The 2020 presidential election was not stolen. Anyone who claims it was is spreading THE BIG LIE, turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system."

"If Liz Cheney must be axed because she will not lie - insisting on a GOP future premised on a full repudiation of these tendencies, 'Who will prevent the next attempt to overturn the will of the voters?'

"Which Republicans will insist they must do what the Constitution demands?
"Which Republicans will stand up to preserve any semblance of the rule of law and primacy of truth?

"With this sabotage of Liz Cheney, House Republicans are figuratively joining the January 6 mob."

The Republican Party welcomes QAnon and expels those who disagree with Trump's big LIE.

"Our freedom only survives if we protect it."
-- Liz Cheney

Liz Cheney's honesty about the 2020 election just got her ousted - in a voice vote - from House GOP leadership.

Republicans are purging and replacing Republicans who stand up to Trump with Trump true believers or cynical opportunists, ensuring that, if and when the next electoral crisis comes around, no one will be left who will be willing to do the right thing.

January 6: cited by Republicans as a regular day of peaceful tourism at the U.S. Capitol.
No wonder the world is bewildered by what goes on in Washington D.C. and beyond in the U.S...
The words cannot be taken seriously.
The big LIE has taken root.

Kevin McCarthy claims no one is challenging the legitimacy of the presidential election.
Earth to Trump, earth to Trump...

We are living in a post-truth era;
the false narratives are hazardous to our survival.

It's on us to confront one another with the truth of what happened on January 6th to combat the false narratives that are being peddled by people who are minimizing and denying the reality of the insurrection. We must acknowledge when those we usually agree with are not being factual and hold them accountable, and expect they will  challenge our facts as well.

"Thou shalt not bear false witness."

How often have their been struggles in red states to display the ten commandments in government buildings? There are those who believe the biblical commandments are sufficient to the exclusion of "superfluous" statutes?

Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant scholars recognize the commandment "Thou shalt not bear false witness" as a moral imperative "not to lie". When we walk away from the truth, we walk away from God. Lying under oath is a crime - our contemporary perjury statutes were derived from the commandment; and offending the statute carries serious punishment.

The false narratives about January 6th are lies.

What are the lies?
The lies are the accounts that nothing out of the ordinary happened at the U.S. Capitol January 6.
All of us - and all the world - witnessed the storming of the U.S. Capitol.
The continuing accounts and denials by insurrectionists in the Capitol are repeated assaults on all those who protected and continue to protect our Capitol and our democratic process.

Are we surprised?
Kevin McCarthy opposes the January 6 commission inquiry.
We need to know what caused the insurrection and how to prevent what happened on January 6 from happening again.
We've taken Nathan Hale's declaration ("Give me liberty or give me death") out of context.

Earth to Joe Manchin.

Mitch McConnell also opposes the January 6 commission inquiry.
So much for bipartisanship.
Are you paying attention, Joe Manchin?
The need to investigate Benghazi was(is) inexhaustible (who knows when it will resurface again?...
For Republicans bipartisanship is Democrats cooperating and/or folding to Republicans' will.
Republicans show little concern for facts and little interest in protecting our democracy.

Earth to Joe Manchin
