Nancy, I saw your post that, "We also live in a democracy.  Majority rules."  I do have one question for you.  If we live in a democracy where majority rules, why have 2 of the past 5 presidential elections been won, not by the person who had the majority of votes, but the person whose vote totals were in the minority?  Apparently "majority rules" is just as much bullshit as, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free..."  That's right, I rmembered it word for word, without having to look it up.  You know why?  Because Emma Lazarus' words touched me the first time I heard them, & they've stuck with me, probably for 60 yrs.  Nancy, you also stated, "I don't understand why a few classmates are bucking the majority."  I presume you feel that you are in the majority.  I don't understand why you feel that way.  Why?  Although, I have to say that if Trump wins re-election in 2020, perhaps you are right, but I don't think you should feel that you are in the majority, right now.  Time will tell.  One more thing, I closed my final post in November with this, "I love you all, but I just don't understand why any of you actually give a shit which Forum (Message or User) I decide to post on.  But I will look forward to & appreciate any response I receive."  So far, I have received 0 responses to that request.  But, I'm not surprised.  Perhaps good, rational responses are not readily available.

Stewart, it was a unanimous decision by the committee to move the political posts. I have been at several functions with high school friends who complained about the posts. It's easy for me to read complaints about the current man man in the White House, because I have absolutely no respect for him. But there are classmates who do support him, and they got pounded. Some of the posts got rather nasty and people were driven away. Most of this was before you began your daily postings.

Nancy, first of all, I do not post daily, and I hope that none of my posts have had that nasty edge you mentioned.  I wouldn't say that those who have been the recipients of that nastiness deserve it, but if one feels that they are in the right, I don't think that being driven away ia an appropriate response.  If you feel a certain way about the politics in this country, I don't think you should be ashamed of how you feel.  I believe you should stand up for what you believe, regardless of any heat you may take from someone else.  That's what makes this country so great.  With over 320 million people in this country, I would think that anything approaching a consensus, is pretty much impossible.  But, I guess I'm glad you're not a die-hard Trumper.

Stewart...This is not the first time you've indicated that those who do not choose to bring political rhetoric to the message forum are ashamed of their beliefs.  In fact, when you first arrived here you tried to shame them into doing so by putting words in my mouth.  I can't speak for everyone but I, for one, refrain from doing so because I don't believe our HS website is the place for it.  You may have noticed it's not just "Trumpers" who have stayed away.  There's only a handful of liberals who continued the persistent onslaught of their views.  Paul Hain used to speak on behalf of conservatives, but when he posted anything he was virtually attacked and told his facts were untrue.  Now the message forum has become a safe haven with a place set up for politics.  And wouldn't you know, as Bev asked, the most prolific commentator hasn't posted here.  Who knows, if opinions are brought here, there may be some rebuttals.

Carol, you stated "This is not the first time you've indicated that those who do not choose to bring political rhetoric to the message forum are ahamed of their beliefs."  And, "In fact, when you first arrived here you tried to do so by putting words in my mouth."  Well, I have to say, Carol, I don't ever remember saying that, "...those who do not choose to bring political rhetoric to the message forum are ashamed of their beliefs.", or even implying that.  Also, I have 0 memory of trying to put words in your mouth.  I will say, though, that whenever I quote another poster, I use quotation marks & reference the date of the post, so there is no misunderstanding.  You have done neither of those things, so, frankly, I think your comments are made up bullshit.  However, as I am getting older, my brain is turning to mush, so it's possible that your memory of things is more accurate than mine.  Therefore, I would appreciate if you send me those exact posts (& dates) to prove me wrong, & if you do, I will be happy to apologize for my crass behavior.  I hope you find those quotes & prove me wrong.  One more thing, Carol, I opened both of my regular email accounts this AM & saw that I had rec'd a message from you, at both emails.  I have no idea how you got my regular email addresses, but, please, DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN.  My regular email addresses are for people I do business with & friends.  I know we don't have any business relationship, & honestly, I don't really consider you a friend.  Thanks, I'll be waiting for your follow-up post (to the User Forum, not my personal email), with details on my crass comments.  Thanks!

Carol, I feel compelled to apologize to you for accusing you (apparently, incorrectly) for sending your post to my personal email addresses, as I noticed that somehow the "Subscribe to Thread" box had been checked "Yes", instead of "No".  Have no idea how that happened, as I have no memory of checking that box "Yes", but it would explain why I got your post at my regular email addresses.  It is now checked "No", as it was before, as is the "Email all new posts" box.  So sorry.  However, I would still welcome any input from you, regarding my post.

No problem, Stewart.  I had no idea what you were talking about relative to your personal email, but your feelings received and accepted loud and clear.

And by the way, in addition to your above post the other post I was referring to can be found on page 22 (followed up by our personal messages on the message center).

As to acquiescing to "majority rule", during Nazi Germany, good Germans went to church to sing hymns and stamp their feet to drown out the sound of trains of box cars rumbling down the train tracks, taking Jews to concentration camps.

It's time we challenge ourselves to rise above the clatter.

Carol, sorry to take a while to respond to your post of the other day, but I did look up my posts from Page 22 & found that there was one from 10/11/18, urging you not to leave the Forum, & thanking Janis for a political cartoon of 2 native americans.  Found another one from 10/12/18, again, encouraging you NOT to leave the Forum, & asking, at the very end of the post, "Carol, don't let me down."  There was a post from 10/13/18, castigating women voters, for not helping elect Hillary (a woman) president, or any other woman president, after having suffrage for almost 100 yrs. & criticizing 43% of women, who voted for Trump, but not you, personally.  I found a post from 10/15/18, addressing Janis' post about "taxation without representation".  A post from 10/19/18, addressed to Steve H. (remember him?) & talking about the Nixon impeachment investigation.  And 1 more post, from 10/19/18 about Steve's loss of a long-time friend.  So, Carol, after looking at ALL my posts from Page 22, I could not find ANYTHING stating "that those who do not choose to bring political rhetoric to the message forum are ashamed of their beliefs.", or that, "when you first arrived here you tried to shame them into doing so by putting words in my mouth."  I would NEVER try to put words in your mouth, Carol - I will leave putting words in your mouth to you. solely.  I couldn't possibly do a better job than you do, yourself.
