Jerry Rodman

I guess I'm the only person who touched base with Jerry Rodman every  ten years. Jerry and I didn't agree on anything but we liked each other. If I married him, it might have lasted less then an hour. Rather then write a bunch of stuff, I'll tell you what you don't know or don't remember. Like that big smiles and dreamy eyes.

1. Jerry Rodman lived across yard from Linda Gobelt. The Rodman Family and Gobelt family are still living in their Lincolnwood homes, since the fifties. Let's not talk about moving on.

2.  Jerry Rodman was the cutest boy in the class of 1960 Lincoln Hall. He was in the Imperials and played basketball and baseball. He had the fastest arm in baseball, 1960.

3.  At Niles West Jery played on the baseball team for all four years. He was a great player and helped us go to state. However, he didn't think much about going to class or passing a test.

4.  I'm not sure on this one.....Remember I'm 70,     Jerry went to the University of Miami to work on his tan. tennis, and swimming. When Jerry got tan enough the university and Jerry parted ways. Jerry got in his convertible and came home.  Daddy Rodman couldn't get Jerry into the National Guard. It was to late to find a school......the rest is unknown history.

5.  Jerry did not go to Vietnam. He vacationed in Canada. Years later, not sure but many, he moved to the east coast and married. He called her the most beautiful woman in the world. He was now called Gary. Don't know why. He said it was always his name.

6. After a zillion years Rodnick and I found Jerry/Gary Rodman. We found him while trying to located

classmates for our 30 th reunion West 1964. Guess what? You'd never get it.....Sharon, Jerry, and I were all divorced. We tried to hang out but we had several disagreements on marriage, children, and life. We parted ways with hugs and kisses.

7. Reunion 50 years.......I find out that Cary Gann and Jerry Rodman are still using their childhood barber on Devon.  Bingo...I got them both. However, both are no shows at the reunion.  However, Jerry takes me to lunch. He paid and talked non stop for three hours. However, he said nothing.  He had been sick for years. As my 90 year old mother and Jerry would say, everything hurt.  He couldn't walk and was in pain. He still hated the world but loved his children and me. For some reason he didn't want to talk about the past. He only wanted to tell me about the women he's been dating.

8. Jerry lived about 7 minutes from my house in Chicago. I have been thinking about him and Barry Elden. Both old friends are neighbors but don't want to meet at Starbucks. I guess now it won't happen for the three od us.  If you want to see someone....call them.

9. Jerry Gary    You became someone I didn't understand. Someone with good intentions. Someone who always did what they wanted. Someone who picked up every check no matter the size. Someone who everyone will miss. I hope you see Sharon Rodnick. She's been saving a hug for you. Love you too.
