Randall Peder Hansen (1959-2009)
The soul of a unique and dear man left this earth, Monday, December 21, 2009. A son, a brother, a husband, a father, a colleague, and a friend Peder Hansen will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Born Randall Peder Hansen to Beverly and Randall Hansen of Downs Chapel, Delaware on March 21, 1959, Peder always considered Delaware to be his true home. Educated in the Smyrna School District and later at the University of Delaware and Portland State University, Peder always set high ideals for his work and life.
Peder met his wife, Deb, while in college. They were married in 1981 and were blessed with three beautiful daughters. Peder enjoyed his work as a water resources engineer with the Department of Natural Resources and most recently the Delaware Public Service Commission. An avid runner and enthusiastic football fan, Peder enjoyed nature, sports of all kinds and reading.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Deb Hansen of Dover; their three daughters, Heather and her husband, Daniel of Wilmington, DE, Bethany of Washington, D.C. and Dana of Parkersburg, WV; his devoted parents, Beverly and Randall of Downs Chapel; his best friend and brother, Gregory of Smyrna, and his nieces Kirsten and Katrina and nephew Erik; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Danette Davies and their children Megan and Jake of Renton, WA; sister-in-law DeAnna Poling of Seattle, WA; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janice and Earl Gross of Hardin, MT, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Downs Chapel United Methodist Church c/o Ginger Jones, 6703 Sudlersville Road, Sudlersville, MD 21649, or to the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934, c/o Peder Hansen.
