I spoke on the phone today with Laura's mother. It was a tearful conversation. She let me know that Laura passed away April 25, 2003 due to complications from Lupus. I was told that Laura had kidney disease as a young child and when she contracted Lupus several years after graduation, it affected her heart and kidneys. She had been sick for a long time, had a pacemaker, and couldn't work anymore. Although she has left this life, she will be remembered in our hearts.

My Mother clipped the obituary from the paper and asked me about her at the time. I was living in Maryland at the time, so she was my only source of local Gwinnett information. I remember Laura as always being nice and friendly to me, although we were never close friends.Heather Dunford (Nemelka)
I did debate with her and she always had a smile on her face. Sad...Leigh Nash (Townsend)
I was called when Laura died. What is really sad is that Laura had health problems as a child but no one really new about it. Laura was a wonderful person and a very loyal friend. Unfortunatly she never really stood out in the crowd back in school but now that she is gone we all remember her. Maybe that is a lesson to be tought to our kids.Natalie Aikens (Watson)
This is so sad. I always remember her with a smile and her sweet spirit!Melinda Jessie (Parlanti)
She sadly was overlooked in High school. She wasn't a cheerleader or popular. She didn't have anything that made her stand out other than her beautiful smile that she never hesitated to show anyone and everyone. She was just an ordinary girl with extraordinary gifts and possibilities. She is a blessing in the afterlife as she was in our lives.
