Jan Szwarc

Jan Szwarc, 61, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. He was born in Sligo, Pennsylvania the son of the late Janusz and Austra Szwarc. He was a resident of Somerset, NJ most of his life. He served his Country in the United States National Guard for six years. Mr. Szwarc worked in the horticulture industry as a driver at Hennings Flower Fair in Somerset, NJ for 45 years. He was an Ex-Fire Chief and longtime secretary for the Elizabeth Avenue Fire Company Station #26 in Somerset, NJ. He enjoyed all types of music. He also enjoyed following the weather and going to the beach. He was an avid New York Mets and New York Jets Fan. He had the kindest heart in the world and was known for his good sense of humor. He was loved by his family and friends and will be sadly missed.
He is predeceased by a brother Raymond Skurbe. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Szwarc of Somerset, NJ, his dear daughters Pamela Bonds and her husband Bobby Bonds II of Somerset, NJ and Andrea Baskerville and her husband Bryan of Somerset, NJ, his brothers Hank Szwarc and his wife Debbie of Neshanic, NJ and Joe Szwarc and his companion Diane Davis of Stewartsville, NJ, his sister Patricia Paradee and her husband Jim of Lawrenceville, NJ and his Sister-In-Law Joy Skurbe of East Brunswick, NJ. He is also survived by his two cherished grandchildren Peyton Bonds and Mason Bonds and by his many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be on Sunday February 5, 2012 from 1 to 3 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. (908)575-8512. Viewing will also be from 9 to 9:30 AM on Monday. The Funeral will be on Monday, February 6, 2012, 9:30 AM at the Ketusky Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway, NJ. I had the pleasure of working with Jan as a fire fighter with The Elizabeth Avenue Volunteer Fire Department during his time as Chief. He was a good guy. He will be missed.
