MELITA T. KRAUSZER, 87, of the Normandy Beach section of BRICK, died Friday, March 21, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. She was born and raised in New Brunswick. She was a graduate of New Brunswick High School and Beaver College, where she earned a degree in business education. She taught a total of 35 years at St. Peter's High School of New Brunswick, Bound Brook High School and Franklin High School of Somerset. In addition to teaching shorthand and typing, Mrs. Krauszer served as cheerleading advisor at Bound Brook and Franklin High Schools. She was a dedicated teacher preparing young people for positions in the business world and took great pride and joy in her accomplishments. A former high school principal once referred to her as the "epitome of a professional educator." Many of Mrs. Krauszer's students kept in touch with her and credited her with the positive influence she had on their lives. She and her husband, Jacob, moved to their home in Barnegat Bay in Normandy Beach, in 1995, which they had built and owned for over 50 years. She was an active member of the Normandy Beach Improvement Association and Normandy Beach Garden Club, serving as secretary of each. She was a member of Mary Mother of God Church in Hillsborough, and Our Lady of Peace in Normandy Beach.


Mrs. Krauszer was the daughter of the late Julius and Sophia Takacs; and the widow of Jacob R. Krauszer, to whom she was married for 59 years. She is survived by her son, Joseph and daughter-in-law, Shelley; three grandsons, Kristopher and his wife, Mary of Vero Beach, Fla., Jonathan of New Jersey, and Jacob of Wilmington, N.C.; and a great-granddaughter, August Elizabeth of Vero Beach, Fla.


Friends may offer condolences from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the family's residence on Normandy Drive in Normandy Beach. Burial will be private.
