Thomas E. Nasdeo, 32, entered into eternal rest on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at his parent's home in Somerset after a long illness. Born in Edison, he was a lifelong resident of Franklin Township before moving to East Brunswick in 2008. Tom was a parishioner and received 5 sacraments at St. Matthias Church in Somerset. He graduated Franklin High School in 1997 where he was active in sports. He played both varsity soccer and was a member of the track team. Tom joined the US Marines in April of 1998 and served four years active duty, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. His MOS was motor transport and his specialty was as an LVS Operator. He was highly decorated receiving the Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with Bronze Service Star, Kosovo Campaign Medal with bronze Service Star, NATO Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, the Rifle Expert Badge - fourth award and the Pistol Expert Badge. Tom served six months on the USS Kearsarge during the Kosovo occupation. His MEU deployed 250 miles inland to accomplish their mission. He also served on the USS Austin at the time of the USS Cole attack. His MEU also assisted Turkey following the 2000 earthquake. Tom's duty station was Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, NC. He was honorably discharged in April of 2002. After his discharge, Tom became proficient at wallpaper hanging and painting working for Michael F. Coffee and later Cypress Wall Covering. He later became skilled in general carpentry, working for Vic Bottrill. Tom was always willing to share his talents by assisting friends and family with many home projects.

He is survived by his parents, Edward C. Nasdeo, Jr. and Nancy J. Nasdeo of Somerset; his sister, Catherine Nasdeo and her fiancé Brian Williard; his maternal grandmother, Florence Yorkanis and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be Saturday, April 14, 2012, 9:30 AM from the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Matthias RC Church in Somerset. He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, next to his paternal grandfather, Edward C. Nasdeo Sr., a fellow Marine. Visitation will be Friday, April 13, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
