James Stewart Titus

James Stewart Titus, of Jamestown, KY, died March 6, 2012 in Kentucky. Born in Franklin Twp., NJ, on Oct. 21, 1945, he was a graduate of Franklin High School in 1963. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, after which he settled in Kentucky. He earned Bachelor and Master's Degrees from the University of Kentucky. James was affectionately known as Jimmy. He dedicated much of his life to assisting others by working in social service agencies and programs, including the Kentucky Commonwealth Department of Human Services, from which he retired in 2009. He was a dedicated member of the Jamestown Baptist Church in Kentucky.
He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Odessa Titus, and a sister, Anna "Babe" Coles. Survivors include one brother, Howard of New York, and children, Howard S. Titus of PA and Kevier Rice of GA; nephew, Robert T. "Cozy" Merrits (Helen) of Somerset, NJ, and his children, Jeffrey, Lisa and Gregory Merrits, all of New Jersey, and Bryan Merrits of New York; niece, Kay Brooks of New Jersey and her daughter, Regina Wheeler of Texas; several great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends who were touched by his life. Services will be held Monday at Green Chapel Baptist Church in Jamestown, KY.
