Joseph P. Tabbit, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 25, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center / Somerset in Somerville, NJ with his loving family by his side. He was born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania the son of the late Joseph and Pearl Tabbit. Mr. Tabbit was a resident of Manville, NJ for the past 47 years.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in Education at Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Mr. Tabbit was a well respected teacher for many years in the Franklin Township School System and a vice principle for 20 years in the Franklin Township High School before retiring in 1990. He was dedicated to the education of children as well as being one who helped students to be the best they could be. Mr. Tabbit was well known and liked by all who knew him. He was also a dedicated family man who loved spending time and taking trips with his family. Mr. Tabbit was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was known as pop-pop to all his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.
Mr. Tabbit was an avid golfer and Notre Dame and New York Yankee fan. He also enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City and to the Sands in Bethlehem, PA.. Mr. Tabbit was an active member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church (Christ the Redeemer Parish) in Manville, NJ. He was also a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society.
Mr. Tabbit is survived by his wife of 62 years Rose M. Tabbit of Manville, NJ, his 2 sons Joseph A. Tabbit and his wife Mary of Hillsborough, NJ and Michael Tabbit and his wife Jennifer of Waxhau, North Carolina, his 2 daughters Marie Fedorczyk and her husband David of Hillsborough, NJ and Deborah Zamorsky and her husband Stanley of Hillsborough, NJ, his 2 brothers Leon Tabbit and his wife Barbara of PA. and Larry Tabbit of PA. and by his 3 sisters Rose Madl and her husband George of PA., Marlene Brennan of Manville, NJ and Theresa Evans and her husband William of Manville, NJ. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren Jennifer, Michael, Derek, Sara, Amanda, Karissa, Brian, Shane, Julia, Michael and Samuel and by 2 great-grandchildren Evan and Landon.
The viewing will be on Monday, October 31, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd., Manville, NJ. The Funeral will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 8:00 AM from the Ketusky Funeral Home followed by a 9:00 AM Mass at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Manville, NJ. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
