William McVicar

Mr. William McVicar passed away on Saturday afternoon at his home in Somerset. He was 64 years old. Mr. McVicar was born in Newark but was a lifetime resident of Franklin Township. He graduated from Franklin Township High School in 1969. He attended Rutgers University on a full academic scholarship. He was employed by Cool-o-Matic in Manville for nearly 30 years. He was a member at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Manville since 1974. He was a former trustee and a member of the church choir. He spent two years in Rome doing missionary work on a church planting team. He also enjoyed photography and trips to the jersey shore.
He was pre deceased by his mother Marion McVicar in 1998. Mr. McVicar is survived by his father Thomas V. McVicar Sr. of Somerset and his brothers Thomas V. McVicar Jr and his wife Monica of Camden, NY and Dennis McVicar and his wife Mary Ann also of Camden, NY and a sister Linda Berish Dubinski and her husband Peter of Jackson, Mississippi. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Philip, Tammy, Lorie, Michelle, Jennifer, Sean, Kelly, Taylor, Michael, Dolores, Lauren and Melissa and 22 great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin at 11 AM on Friday at Emmanuel Baptist Church 34 South Third Avenue in Manville. Visiting will take place from 7-9 PM on Thursday at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset and on Friday from 10 -11 AM at the church. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Camden at a later date.
