Funeral Set For Somerset Man Who Died In Snowmobile Crash

SOMERSET, NJ — Funeral arrangements have been set for 23-year-old Jonathan Black of Somerset, who died following a snowmobile crash in upstate New York on Friday night.

Visiting will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., in Somerset.

A funeral service will be held at St. Matthias Church on JFK Boulevard in Somerset on Friday at 11 a.m. Guests are asked to go directly to church. All other services will take place privately.

Black was known for his infectious smile and his sense of humor allowed you to have a better day, according to his obituary at Gleason Funeral Home.

Black had a giving soul as he volunteered his time helping others, including the Special Olympics and the students at the Matheny School in Far Hills.

"He was a friend to all that knew him and always said 'I love you' when leaving," his obituary states.

Because of this, contributions in Black's name may be made to the Matheny School at matheny.org/donate or to The Special Olympics of New Jersey at sonj.org/donate.

Black was born in Pequannock, but was a lifetime resident of the Somerset section of Franklin Township.
