NESHANIC STATION -- Joan E. Amerman died on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 in Hunterdon Medical Center. She was 78.

Born in Elizabeth on Nov. 6, 1929, a daughter of Elmer and Mae Holste Fickenscher, she had resided in Neshanic Station since 1955.

A teacher, she had formerly taught in Franklin Township (Somerset County) and East Amwell Township.

She was a member of the Clover Hill Reformed Church, Mrs. Amerman was also a former Cub Scout den mother.

Her husband, David W. Amerman Jr., died in 1998.

Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Amerman of Neshanic Station; two sons, James Amerman of Frenchtown and D. Richard Amerman of Milford; and two sisters, Barbara Page of Mountain Lakes and Nancy Jauch of Denville.

Graveside services will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. in Neshanic Cemetery, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington.
