Dorothy A. (Drapek) Stoner
January 7, 1933 ~ September 14, 2025
Dorothy A. Stoner, 92 years old, passed away peacefully at 10:35 a.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born on January 7, 1933 in South Bend to the late John S. and Agnes (Janowski) Drapek. On April 9, 1950 in South Bend, Dorothy and Dale E. Stoner were united in marriage. Dale preceded her in death on August 5, 2018. Two brothers also preceded Dorothy in death, John J. and Francis A. Drapek.
Dorothy is survived by her four children, Randy (Cindi) Stoner of Mishawaka, Cheryl (Gary) Andert of South Bend, Rick (Beth) Stoner of Lakeville, and Pamela (Janice Bergamini) Stoner of Three Oaks, MI; eight grandchildren, Kristy (Robert) Nix, Rick (Karen) Stoner, Kelly (Shad) Robakowski, Kyle (Mindy) Stoner, Jennifer (Mike Young) Andert, Jessica (Blake) Nickle, Julia (Max) McCloskey, and Natasha Stoner; twenty-one great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Sharron Harper of San Francisco, CA; sisters-in-law, Louise Drapek of South Bend and Sharron Stoner of Granger; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Dorothy is also survived by special friends who are like family, Sarah and Bob Conner and their children; Elaine Stoner; Tom and Jodi Bogunia and family; Judy Marshman; John Maggiore; and Frank Kurland.
Dorothy was a lifelong resident and graduated from Riley High School. She worked for eighteen years at the United States Post Office and worked at the Wishing Well Dress Shop. Dorothy also worked along with her husband at the Stoner’s Restaurant and farming. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist and volunteered at St. Margaret’s House.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025 at the Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
The family would like to thank all of the hospice caregivers for their loving care of mom.
