Welcome to the memorial page for Marianne Gripado March 5, 1948 ~ February 5, 2011 (age 62) 62 Years Old Marianne Gripado, 62, residing in South Bend, IN, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, February 5, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. She was born March 5, 1948 in South Bend, a daughter of Clarence & Verna (Behrmann) Dietrich, and has remained a lifelong resident of this community. Marianne graduate with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education from Indiana University of South Bend, and went on to work as a Teacher with the South Bend Community School Corp, having taught at Warren Elementary School for 28 years. On January 22, 1972 at Faith United Methodist Church, South Bend, she and Daniel Gripado were united in marriage. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Daniel, along with her daughter and son-in-law, Carla & Derek Frick of South Bend, her son, Corey Gripado of South Bend, and a granddaughter, Haley Frick also of South Bend. She is also survived by her brother Gary Dietrich of South Bend, and her nieces and nephews, Philip, Sandy, Doug, and Donnie, along with several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Dietrich on January 22, 1976, and her sister-in-law, Verna Dietrich. Following Verna's passing, Marianne took an active role in helping to raise her nieces and nephews. Marianne enjoyed traveling with her brother Gary, and recently returned from a trip to the Grand Canyon which she enjoyed very much. She greatly loved her cats and dog. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Keith McFarren of Faith United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
