Sara Joanne Guinn (Howe)

Sara Joanne (Guinn) Howe

September 6, 1951 ~ October 30, 2025

Sara Joanne Howe, 74, of North Liberty, passed away at home with her loving family by her side on Thursday, October 30th.

Sara was born in South Bend to John and Mary P. “Priscilla” (Bowman) Guinn. Sara was a life-long area resident. She met and went on to marry the love of her life, Raymond Howe, on June 7, 1969. She found great pleasure in reading, watching her favorite television programs, and relaxing on the deck with a cup of coffee and a smoke while taking in the peaceful countryside. Known for her cheerful belief that dessert should always come before dinner, she brought warmth and joy to those around her. Most of all, she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, particularly when baking kieflies for Christmas.

Sara is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Raymond, along with their children, Daniel (Laura) Howe and Joanne Nicolini both of Walkerton. She was the proud grandmother of Paige (Kieth) Kafantaris, Reagan Howe, Chase Howe and Dylan Nicolini and the great grandmother of Carter and Tatum Kafantaris. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Mary Katherine “Kay” Tengen and Jacqualin J. “Jackie” Switalski.

As per Sara’s wishes cremation is to take place with no services scheduled at this time. She will be laid to rest at a later date at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to either St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105 or to the Indiana Blind Children’s Foundation, 5050 E. 42nd St., Indianapolis, IN  46226.

Hanley and Sons Funeral Home-Walkerton Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements and wishes to extend our deepest sympathy to all of the Howe family and friends.
