John William Eichorst

John William Eichorst, 70, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at his home on Monday, August 17, 2026.
John was born on August 19, 1955, in South Bend, to Herbert and Irma (Knebel) Eichorst. He was a lifelong South Bend resident and worked for Honeywell in wheel and brake installation, retiring in 2012 after 36 years of dedicated service.
John was a proud father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his family. He especially loved his grandchildren and enjoyed making memories with them. He also had a passion for going to drag races and races of all kinds. A devoted sports fan, John loved college football and was also a fan of the Chicago Bears.
John is survived by his daughters, Erika (Eric) Eichorst and Michelle (Andrew) Jarvis; his grandchildren, Ryley, Tyson and Myah Georgia; five bonus granddaughters, Vivian, Rachel, Juliet, Bianca and Cosette Jarvis; and brother, Bob (Kaye) Eichorst.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Irma (Knebel) Eichorst; his sister, Carol Klaybor; and brothers, Thomas and Rick Eichorst.
In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no formal services,Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s honor may be given to the St. Joseph Veterans Service Office, 227 W Jefferson Blvd, South Bend, IN 46601, to assist active duty servicemen and servicewomen adjusting to civilian life.
