Dorothy Mae "Dottie" Allen, 89, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026.
Born on November 22, 1936, in Glasgow, Kentucky, Dottie was the daughter of Arnie F. and Anna Elizabeth Huffman. She moved to South Bend as a teenager and graduated from Riley High School in 1954.
Dottie dedicated her professional life to serving as an administrative assistant. She spent eight years with American National Bank and twenty years with 1st Source Bank, both in South Bend, where she built lasting friendships and earned the respect of colleagues through her dedication and professionalism.
An active and energetic woman throughout her life, Dottie enjoyed golfing and proudly served as President of the St. Matthew Golf League at Studebaker Golf Course. She was an avid sports fan who loved watching PGA golf, Notre Dame men's and women's basketball, and especially Notre Dame football. She loved tending to her yard, and spending time outdoors. Her true passions were walking, dancing, and cheering on the Fighting Irish.
Dottie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnie and Anna Huffman; her oldest son, Robert Bradley Allen who passed away in 2013; and her three siblings, Betty Jane Huffman Parks, William C. Huffman, and Barbara Ann Huffman Rico.
Dottie is survived by her children, Christy Reeves of Westfield, Indiana; Lisa (Pete) Newell of Granger, Indiana; and Doug (Elizabeth) Allen of Niceville, Florida. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren
A private family service will be held, and a burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614, is assisting the family with arrangements.
