Margaret Rose (Tschida) Nicholas
March 4, 1939 ~ June 21, 2025
Margaret “Marge” Rose Nicholas, 86, a lifelong resident of South Bend passed away on Saturday June 21, 2025, at Briarcliff in South Bend.
Marge was born on March 4, 1939, in South Bend to the late Anton A. and Edith M. (Raloff) Tschida.
Marge graduated from Riley High School and obtained her associate’s degree from IUSB in general studies with a concentration in Business and Psychology.
She was a proud member of Community Baptist Church, the Women of St. Joseph Co. Organization, and once ran for City Clerk of South Bend. She loved to bake, to sew stuffed animals and dresses, and to read to children in schools. She was a qualified mentor with the SBCSC and a tutor for the SJC literacy program. She also volunteered many years for Bible study and flower setup within her church.
Marge loved to travel all over the United States visiting family or seeing new sites. She was proud that she learned sign language and was quite fond of tending to her garden.
Marge will be missed by her son Ken (Nancy) Nicholas, grandson Brenton Nicholas, her sister Francis Marcin, and many other close friends.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frederick Tschida, and her sisters Elizabeth Meiszberg, Barbara Neff, and Annabelle Reinseth.
Visitation for Marge will be held from 12pm-1pm on Friday June 27, 2025, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. A funeral service will begin at 1pm and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Community Baptist Church.
