Christy Ann Nijak
September 15, 1980 ~ July 22, 2025
Christy Nijak, lovingly known to many as “Christy Whisky,” passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 44 in her hometown of South Bend, Indiana.
Born and raised in South Bend, Christy was the beloved daughter of Sylvester Nijak and Madonna Walters. She earned her bachelor’s degree and went on to work as a store manager at Belmont Beverage, where she was admired for her hard work, leadership, and genuine warmth.
Music was Christy’s lifeline—her greatest passion and gift. She was known for her beautiful singing voice, which left lasting impressions on everyone who heard it. Whether performing or simply singing among friends and family, her voice brought light, comfort, and connection.
Christy was a devoted mother and proud grandmother. She is survived by her partner Eric Fredline and her four beloved children—Ayla, Eleanor, Gemma, and Lucille—and her cherished granddaughter, Nahliah. Her love for her family was boundless, and her presence in their lives was a constant source of strength and joy.
She is also survived by her siblings, Jennifer Nijak, Jason Kuykendoll, and Leilani Kuykendoll, all of whom shared in her vibrant spirit and deep family bond.
Christy will be remembered for her radiant energy, her selfless dedication to making others happy, and the joy and music she brought into every space she entered.
A memorial to celebrate Christy’s life will be held on August 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Morris Park Country Club. All who knew and loved Christy are welcome to attend and honor her life and legacy.
Her song may have ended, but her melody lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
