SOUTH BEND - Eugene L. Nye, 84, formerly of South Bend, IN, and Chicago, IL, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, in Daytona Beach, FL.

Husband of the late Mary Ellis Nye, dear father of Kent James (Bonnie) Dashel, Patricia Krause, Wendy (John) Ramirez, Donald, Sandra Knobloch and the late Pamela Fremarek. Loving grandfather of 14 as well as great-grandfather of 14. Dear son of the late Wilbert Gail Nye and Bertha Pieters Randolph, step-son of Gertrude Barbkuecht Nye. Fond brother of Ralph (Patricia) Nye, Robert (Eileen) Randolph, Verna Arlene (William) Sahlhoff, Dorothy (Sox) Bone and the late Anthony (Clementine) Nye, Gail Nye, Bonnie Nye and Carl (Marsha) Nye.

Eugene was a World War II and Korean War veteran.

A military funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421.
