In Memory

Alice May (Miller) Van Parys, Dare
October 4, 1932 — October 19, 2025
Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our dear mother, but we are comforted by the knowledge that she has been reunited with our father, Ed Van Parys.
Born in South Bend, Indiana to the late Floyd and Mamie Miller, Alice had just celebrated her 93rd birthday.
Alice was a graduate of Riley High School, where she played in the band and was a baton twirler. She spent her life raising us four kids and then helping with grandchildren. She was an accomplished seamstress and, when we were young, she did tailoring at home. She enjoyed crocheting baby afghans and doing word search puzzles. All the neighborhood kids liked to play at our house because our mom and dad were always fun.
Alice is survived by her children; Dorett Bush, Craig Van Parys, Randy (Cindy) Van Parys, and Terry (Leslie) Van Parys, grandchildren; Tonya, Grant, Garrett, Courtney, and Emily, and great-grandchildren; Aidan, Caleb, and Tatum.
Alice married Edmond Van Parys in 1952. He passed away in 1989. Several years later she married Arthur Dare, who passed away in 2008. Along with her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Betty Nagel, Joyce Miller, Ruth Henrickson, Patricia Sandilands, her brother, Floyd Miller, Jr, and her grandson, Keith Risner. Now the entire Miller family is together again.
We can't say enough how much we loved and appreciated Mom. She was a very sweet, gentle, and caring person loved by everyone who knew her.
In keeping with Alice's wishes, a private burial will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Alice to the American Heart Association.
