In Loving Memory of Judy Ann Ivory Winston
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Judy Ann Ivory Winston, age 73, of South Bend, Indiana. Judy passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished member of her family.
Judy attended Riley High School in South Bend, IN. She enjoyed spending time playing cards and Bingo, creating memories and sharing laughter with those around her—“if you know, you know.”
Judy raised five children on her own. She was a wonderful woman, full of strength and confidence, radiating beauty both inside and out. She was tough as nails, but had a heart as sweet as honey. Her strength, determination, and unconditional love for her family were the foundation of her life.
Judy’s devotion to her family endured until her very last breath. Though she passed, her loved ones know she ultimately conquered cancer. They believe divine intervention ensured the disease never fully claimed her, granting her true victory despite its physical toll.
Judy was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Robert Winston and Lucretia Winston, both of South Bend, IN; her grandson, Charles Jackson Jr., of South Bend, IN; her brother, Dennis Lee Williams, of South Bend, IN; her cousin, James “J.R.” Phillips, of South Bend, IN; and her special friend, Ricky Maddox, of South Bend, IN.
Judy’s greatest legacy was the family she loved and the generations she helped shape. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved mother, Evetta Trice, of South Bend, IN; and her children: Danita M. Fennessee, of South Bend, IN; Chanise’ (Charles) Jackson, of South Bend, IN; Nerissa (Donald) Shorter Winston, of Indianapolis, IN; Brian Keith Tucker Winston, of South Bend, IN; and Evette (Pepper) Winston, of South Bend, IN.
She is also survived by her siblings: David Vernell (Carolyn) Williams, Dale Williams, and Joanne Williams, all of South Bend, IN.
Her love and legacy continue through her 23 grandchildren: Duchess (Jashawn) Walker, of Dallas, TX; Rikkita Phillips; Danita Phillips, both of Indianapolis, IN; Daechess”DaBoo” Jackson, of South Bend, IN; Destiny Jackson, of Dallas, TX; Dynasty Jackson, of South Bend, IN; Ashley Winston, of Indianapolis, IN; Trenevia Judy Monet Ivory Winston, of South Bend, IN; Tony Winston ,of South Bend, IN; Kendra Winston, of Indianapolis, IN; Laniyah Winston, of South Bend, IN; Byran Winston, of South Bend, IN; Victor Womack, of Indianapolis, IN; Donissa Evans, of Indianapolis, IN; Tar’on Maddox, of Indianapolis, IN; Karlie’rae Gray, of South Bend, IN; Riely Gray, of South Bend, IN; Azariya Winston, of South Bend, IN; Braxston Jones, of South Bend, IN; Maki Chandler, of South Bend, IN; Alexis Winston, of Huntsville, AL; Tre’Vaona Winston, of South Bend, IN; and Tre’Ond Winston, of South Bend, IN—as well as 57 great-grandchildren.
Judy will also be lovingly remembered by her special friends and family: Jeanna Williams, Natille Lewis, Michelle Stuckey, cousin Patricia “Pat” Winston, sister-in-law Carolyn “Bay” Williams, and Jane" PeeWee " Smith.

To her family, Judy was more than a mother and grandmother. She helped create a family whose lives will forever be touched by her presence.
The lessons she taught, the memories she created, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave will continue to live on through each person she loved. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, the imprint she left on her family can never be erased.
Her legacy will be carried forward through the lives of her 5 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and every generation that follows. Every story told about her, every memory shared, and every moment of love between her family members will keep a piece of Judy alive.
Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we are grateful for the time we were blessed to have with her. We will miss her dearly, but we will carry her love with us always.
Your work here is done Judy, but your love will never leave us. Your memory will live on in the hearts of your family, and your legacy will continue through the generations you loved so dearly.
Forever loved.
