Janet Griffith March 6, 1948 – Oct. 17, 2015 Resident of Oakland Janet Lind Griffith resided in Oakland with her husband, Mike and daughter, Elisabeth. Janet was employed at Kaiser Permanente as a psychologist until her retirement in 2012.
Janet dedicated her life to helping others, both professionally and personally. She was always the one with the listening ear and knew how and when to make suggestions to help. Given her helpful, kind and giving nature, Janet was surrounded by lifetime friends and family. She had a passion for service to Guatemalan children through Mayan Families and to Hopalong Animal Rescue for which she fostered countless rescue dogs. Janet was a great support to her family as well, always there for them as life unleashed the good and the bad. She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky to know her.
With retirement, Janet seized upon new interests–acting classes through Stagebridge and Sunday School teaching at Montclair Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service and celebration of Janet’s life will be held at Montclair Presbyterian Church, 5701 Thornhill Drive, Oakland, CA 94611 on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to either Mayan Families at www.mayanfamilies.org or to Hopalong Animal Rescue at www.hopalong.org
