Larry Douglas Hegg

May 20, 1944 - May 28, 2025

Larry Douglas Hegg, a lifelong resident of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on May 20, 1944, to the late Bill and Evelyn Hegg, Larry's life was one of dedication to his family,

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 55years, Mary Anne (Lenyo) Hegg, with whom he built a life filled with joy and cherished memories. He was a devoted father to his children, Renee Nicole Hall, Adam Hegg, partnered with Anna Richardson-Hegg, and Jeremy Hegg (Michelle Binder deceased) all of whom he instilled with his strong values and love for life. Larry's legacy continues through his grandchildren, William (Elisabeth Buchmann) Krager, Dylan Krager, and Caroline Krager, each of whom he adored and supported in all their endeavors. He is also survived my his brothers in law Don Robison Jr and Micheal (Fran) Lenyo and many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Robison, who shared in the Hegg family's close-knit bond.

He graduated from Adams high school and got his associate's degree and then joined the navy where he served for 4 years and then Larry worked as a mail sorter at the United States Postal Service for 23 years.

He was an avid sports fan, cheering for Purdue, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears.

Above all, Larry was a family man. His happiest moments were those spent surrounded by his loved ones, His warmth, humor, and kindness were the cornerstones of the Hegg household, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held on June 28, 2025 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Palmer Funeral Homes – River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN 46615. Memorial contributions may be made to Pet Refuge, 4626 S Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614 or American Lung Association, 115 W Washington St #1180-South, Indianapolis, IN 46204. George H. Winkelmann (1961)

I'm sorry for your loss, and it sounds large.  I graduated a year before Larry.  We were not friends, but I saw him many times wandering the hallowed halls of John Adams.  Seems to me I remember he was one of the 'good guys'.  From reading above he was a 'good guy' his entire life.  I pray that you mourn his loss well, laugh and cry as you share memories...he would have wanted that.  His goodness will live on!!!  Another Eagle has flown into the clouds.  God bless you one and all!  G
