Thomas F Schrager - Class Of 1969 VIEW PROFILE

Thomas F Schrager

Thomas Falender Schrager died peacefully at his home in Framingham Massachusetts on June 25, 2024. Tom was 73 years old. He is survived by his brothers Stephan L. Schrager and Edward F. Schrager; and two nephews, Ben and Sam and niece, Maggie. He also leaves his devoted cousin Paul Schrager, who was like a brother to him. Tom had 16 aunts and uncles. He was closest to Howard and Mitzi , and Lenny and Mia ("Tommy was such a sweet boy”) who were demonstrably proud of his accomplishments. Tom was also close to his paternal grandfather, (Grandpa) Harry Schrager. Also surviving are 14 other cousins.

Tom, an outstanding student, graduated with honors from John Adams H.S. in 1969. After having had perfect scores on his college entrance tests, Tom attended the University of Wisconsin before he transferred and graduated from Indiana University with honors in math and science in 1973. He capped off his educational studies by earning a PH.D. in toxicology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1978 after successfully defending the first draft of his dissertation.

Tom was the middle boy in the Schrager family and was known to be a fashion plate. Tom loved nature and frequently took hikes and camping trips to beautiful areas throughout our country and internationally. In addition to being an outstanding student, Tom was a swimmer for the state champion John Adams Eagles where he earned medals for 50-yard freestyle and the 400-yard free style relay. He was very social and enjoyed an active dating life to the envy of his brothers. Tom always had a strong sense of right and wrong. He invariably supported the "little guy", be him a fellow student or an underprivileged member of the community. His uncompromising nature was both a blessing and a curse. Tom had a great sense of humor and saw whimsy in life that alluded others. Tom, unique in so many ways, will never be forgotten.
