Scott "Scooch" Miller died during an unusually cold period (January 10-12, 2013) where temperatures dropped into the twenties overnight. Scott, who was homeless, often slept at the Trestles surf spot, a beach in northern-most San Diego county. Speculation for his cause of death was the freezing or near freezing temperatures. Scott was 59 years old.
