Sharon Dotson (Parrish)

Sharon Dotson was born in Michigan to Lonnie and Carmen Dotson in 1957, the youngest of three daughters. Her family attended Temple Baptist Church and Sharon attended and graduated from Southfield Christian School, where she chose Proverbs 3:4-5 as her senior verse, “If you want favor with God and man, a reputation for good judgment and common sense, then trust in the Lord completely; don’t even trust yourself. In everything you do put God first and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success.” In 1980 she began attending a singles group at Ward Presbyterian Church in Northville. There Sharon met Stephen Parrish, the two marrying in 1981. The couple were blessed with three daughters, Sarah, Rebekah, and Mary. Sharon had a variety of full and part-time jobs over the years, bank teller, church secretary and working in a dental office. Mostly, she was a stay at home mom for 12 years. Sharon helped the girls with various activities, like Girl Scouts and Sunday School. She encouraged family traditions like going to the Michigan State Fair, annual trips to Frankenmuth, and frequent tips to the movies. She loved animals and had a number of dogs and cats over the years. She also enjoyed music (especially Bob Seger and Simon & Garfunkel), singing, dancing, shopping, and she loved the Lord. She was excited to become a grandma for the first time in 2004 with the birth of Conor to her daughter Sarah. Unexpectedly, Sharon passed away just a few months later in March of 2005, after a lengthy struggle with bipolar disorder. One of her daughter’s memorialized her as “... a cool, fun lady that we’ll all miss every day.”
