I have no idea when or how Jason passed away, but I am deeply saddened to hear this news. Jason was one of the nicest kids I knew. He was very friendly, sweet, and always smiling. How very, very sad that we won't get to see him at our reunion this year.
This is the first I've heard of it and it is saddening. Jason was one of the most down-to-earth people I knew back in school. Always with a calm demeanor and never had a bad word to say about anyone--except public figures who he made a mockery of.
I knew he suffered from hemophilia which is a disorder that prevents blood from clotting, so that any injury more than a simple cut or scrape could be potentially dangerous and life-threatening. He was always excused from PE classes because of this. This never stopped his wry sense of humor as he was a lot of fun to be around in class.
JAY WAS ONE OF THE SWEETEST AND FUNNIEST GUYS I HAVE EVER KNOWN. WE BECAME EVEN BETTER FRIENDS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. HE DIED IN 1995. HE HAD SOME COMPLICATIONS FROM HIS HEMOPHILIA. I LEARNED THROUGH JAY TO LIVE LIFE AND NEVER LET THE LITTLE THINGS GET YOU DOWN. FOR THAT I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL AND I WILL ALWAYS MISS HIM.
Jason was awesome - for someone with serious medical problems (hemophilia) he was ALWAYS a positive spark. Speaking of sparks, he's also a guy who survived a fire that literally started on top of him. His electric blanket caught fire and he escaped unharmed while his house burned. Jason and I were 2 pieces of a really bad band - I couldn't sing a note (still can't) and he was still cool being my drummer. We played the JFK talent show in 9th grade, and even a few years later when I stunk at guitar he was still the one keeping the beat behind me. Jason's parents were great; they taught him that he didn't have a disability - just that he needed to be a little more careful not to get bumps & bruises. Jason used to sneak and play football or do just about anything else he could to prove he could handle it. Great guy, he's missed.
