BERNIER, Lauren M. Lauren M. Bernier, 35, of Old Farms Rd. passed away on Thursday (April 26, 2007) at the Hospital of Central CT at New Britain General. She was the beloved wife of Gerard "Jay" Bernier Jr. and mother of Brandon William and newborn son Evan Christopher. She was born on Dec. 25, 1971, the daughter of William J. Melican Jr. of Southington and the late Angela (Passaretti) Melican. Lauren had graduated SHS in 1989 and received her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA in 1993. In 1996 she received her Master's Degree in Special Education from St Joseph's College and in 2001 she received her Sixth Year Professional Degree in school administration from the University of Hartford. Lauren enjoyed scrap booking, collecting all of her favorite items, taking her son Brandon to "Thomas the Tank" events, and her Cape Cod and Disney Vacations with her family. She will be sorely missed at Kennedy Middle School where she truly loved her position as a special education teacher. As Department Chairperson, she always demonstrated her knowledge and never turned away anyone looking for assistance. She was a BEST Portfolio scorer and mentor for new teachers. Lauren really loved each and every day at work. She was a true professional that was loved by all of her Kennedy "family". We love you and will miss you Lauren! In addition to her husband, sons and father she leave her maternal grandmother Concetta Passaretti of Windsor; Uncle Louis Passaretti of Enfield and Aunt Joann Carlson of Manchester; her Grandmother-in-law Lucienne Bussiere; Mother and Father-in-law, Gerard and Norma Bernier Sr., sister-in-law Michelle Costello and brother-in-law Chad Bernier and several cousins including Stephanie Carlson. The Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 3-8 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home,211 N. Wow, when I clicked on this the memory of Lauren's passing came flying back to me.

Its such a shame when a person passes, especially when they are still so young and have so much more to contribute to life-as Lauren did.

But Lauren's passing is softened by looking at her children and knowing that while she may not physically be with us, her legacy lives on through them.
