CLAREMONT, N.H. -
Police have identified the steel worker who died after being crushed by a trailer at a plant in Claremont, N.H.
Emergency crews were able to free 41-year-old Scott Bates of Claremont and take him to Valley Regional Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries Friday.
The accident happened at Canam Steel, which makes steel girders and arches for large bridges.
Police say Bates had been trying to load a large steel span onto a trailer when he was pinned beneath the trailer's wheels.
Police, the state medical examiner's office and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
