Thomas Jay DOUVILLE Obituary

Aug 20, 1945 - Jun 20, 2026

Thomas Jay Douville, 80, passed away at his home near Nine Mile Falls, Washington, on June 20, 2026.

Born in Spokane on August 20, 1945, to Francis William and Cleo Roberta (Roberts) Douville, Tom graduated from West Valley High School in 1964 and proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era.

He lived life on his own terms and left behind enough stories to last several lifetimes. Throughout the years, he worked as a bartender, surveyor, welder, mechanic, firewood cutter, and later operated Selkirk Honey Farms as a beekeeper. He loved skiing, fishing, boating, and spending time outdoors, and was happiest with family and friends nearby.

He had an easy smile, a generous heart, and a way of making everyone feel welcome. As one friend said upon hearing of his passing, "He was one of our favorite people."

His greatest pride was his family. He raised his only son, Jacob, largely on his own. He was immensely proud of his son and treasured every moment with his grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his sisters, Ranae (Douville) Rantanen and Colleen Douville; his son, Jacob Thomas Douville; his grandchildren, James Thomas Douville and Sadie Lynn Douville; and his nieces, Mindy (Rantanen) Ward, Echo Rantanen, and Tong Yuan Douville.

A memorial celebration of Tom's life is being planned. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
