Spokane lost a beautiful, generous, quirky soul when Evan died unexpectedly of a heart attack in his sleep. He was born in Tacoma and raised in Spokane, with Cannon Hill Park as his childhood playground. Evan graduated from Lewis & Clark High School and earned a computer electronics technology degree at Edmonds Community College. He served in the US Navy as an aircraft mechanic based in Hawaii.
Evan died mere weeks after his retirement from the City of Spokane. He was generous with his time and money, tirelessly volunteering with the Spokane Beard and Mustache philanthropic club and Camp Journey at Ross Point, a summer camp for children and their families touch by pediatric cancer. He was beloved for his compassion, sense of humor and fair play and integrity.
Evan was preceded in death by his father Lee Bowden. He is survived by his mother Roberta Bowden, brother Murray Bowden, sister Kari (Kent) Allen, niece Bethany Bowden, nephews' Marc (Sacha) Allen, Sean (Clare) Allen, Matthew Allen, Blayne Bowden, several great nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends.
Services for Evan will be Tuesday, June 22 at 5:30 at the Spokane Elks Lodge Event Center, 9320 E Mission. Memorial donations in his name may be sent to Camp Journey at Ross Point or Spokane.
In Evan's honor, enjoy a good beer with friends and live every day of your life to the fullest!
