Charles "Tuck" E. Gionet III, 55 years old, lost his two-year battle with cancer on Saturday, August 8, 2015, with his family by his side. Tuck was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 9, 1960, and was raised in Green Bluff, Spokane, Wash. He graduated from Mead High School in 1978 and attended Western Washington University where he earned a B.A. in political science and education with a minor in chemistry. His favorite memories and some lifelong friends came from being a member of the Western lacrosse team. He began his teaching career with the Snohomish School District in 1983. He started at the Snohomish Junior High where he taught and coached football and track. He moved up to the high school in 1988 where he taught social studies and became the head track and field coach. While teaching and coaching at the high school, Tuck was also the 8th grade football coach at Centennial Middle School, Panther Pals coordinator, Key Club and Sportsman club advisor. One of Tuck's favorite lessons was teaching his students about state government and taking them down to Olympia where they would lobby legislation they had written. He loved honoring the Veterans by helping coordinate and speaking at the Veteran's Day Assembly every year. Outside of school, Tuck was an avid fisherman and loved being out on the water. He got great joy out of taking others out on his boat fishing with him. He was involved in the Salmon for Soldiers program and the Blind Fishing Derby. During the summers when Tuck was not fishing, he loved taking students on trips to Europe every other year where he enjoyed immersing students in the culture, history, and local cuisine. But overall, Tuck's greatest joy was being a husband and father. Whether it was cheering his kids on at their different sporting events, teaching them life lessons, or just sitting around the dinner table, Tuck took great pride in being a family man. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Gionet Jr. Tuck is survived by his wife Marci; children, TJ (Molly), Callie, and Kyle; mother, Nan Gionet; siblings, Cindy (Phil) Bealer, Cristi (Ron) Rowbotham, and Cory (Theresa) Gionet; along with multiple nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Lukas of the Everett Clinic and the many wonderful nurses and staff at the Cancer Partnership in Everett. There will be a Celebration of Tuck's Life at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Snohomish High School gymnasium, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tuck Gionet Student Support Fund through the Snohomish Kiwanis, which he was a member of.
