I was very sad to hear about Ron. We spent some very interesting time together as we grew up. The only guy I ever rode with that had the drive controls on the dash. Push buttons which were a standard feature on the Nash Rambler I believe. Oh thats one of those memory issues.
My brother Ronnie Paffel, passed away on April 4, 2006, at the age of 54 at Memorial Medical Center in Ashlund after a five month battle with lung cancer.
Ronnie was a welder for Harnishfager and Zenar welding businesses, both of Milwaukee, and for the Blount Co. in Prentice.
Ron had a passion for his Corvette and Harleys, he also loved ice fishing, and deer hunting.
He resided in Washburn since 1991 with wife Susan and daughters, Shannon and Heather.
He is also survived by daughters, Melissa Villwock of Ashland and Shawn Barrett, with granddaughters, Casidy and Skyler, all of Spooner. Ron's daughter Shannon has given Ronnie another grandchild this past year.
Ronnie was a huge fan of practical jokes, and was always coming up with some new scheme to try as kids which always landed us in trouble, examples would be jumping up and down on the roof of an abandoned car until the zillion bee nests growing under the roof broke loose and needless to say stung us so many times we almost ended up in the hospital.
The second big idea was to tie my wagon to his bike and pull me down a huge hill at breakneck speed, this was great fun until the wagon passed his bike and yanked the rope and bike around and upside down which in turn flipped the wagon, on blacktop we left enough body skin and blood to make our parents think it was a crime scene.
He loved to ride his Harley, and he could make a fantastic carrot bar dessert, which he would never admit to.
I hope to post some pictures of Ronnie in the near future. Thank all of you for your condolences and messages, they are very much appreciated.
Sorry to hear of Ronnies passing. I remember him in classes and seeing him around the school. I pretty much grew up around Spooner with moving to Cumberland and Oregon in between times. Ronnie was polite and helped others and was nice.
