BUETTNER, LUKE, 24, of Spring Hill and Sarasota, died Wednesday (March 12, 2003) as a result of an automobile accident. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he came here in 1981. A 1996 graduate of Springstead High, he played sports in the community athletic leagues, played varsity baseball and signed with Seminole Community College. He later received a scholarship to Daytona Beach Community College, where he was awarded All Conference Closer of the Year. Survivors include his mother, Carol Buettner, Spring Hill; his father, Jim Buettner, Sarasota; maternal grandfather, Cecil "Tip" Tipton, Spring Hill; an uncle, Curt Tipton, Mount Vernon, Ohio; and three cousins.
