John Joseph Lampl

JOHN JOSEPH LAMPL, dearly loved son, brother, husband, uncle, firefighter and friend died Thursday, October 28, 2010. He was 39.Born April 28, 1971, the youngest son of Gloria and Daniel Lampl, John grew up in Spring, Texas.While a student at Klein Oak High School, John began serving his community by volunteering with the Ponderosa Fire Department. After graduating from high school in 1991, John knew he had found his calling. He then attended the Texas Engineering Extension Service, at Texas A & M University. Upon obtaining his certification, he continued his work with Ponderosa and began working for Champions Area Volunteer Fire Department. In 2002, John became a career firefighter with The Woodlands Fire Department and remained active with the two other organizations.John's generous nature always put the needs of others before his own. He was a dedicated firefighter who was credited with saving at least two lives in fires. Approximately one year ago, in the Woodlands, he rescued a woman from a burning home and then six months later did the same at Ponderosa.John is survived by his loving wife, Deborah (Johnson) Lampl, mother Gloria McLean, mother and father-in-law Ronald and Sharon Johnson, sister and brother-in-law Samantha (Lampl) and Gil Melman, nephews Noah and Evan Melman and niece, Rachel Melman, brother Daniel Livsey, brother and sister-in-law Brandon and Angelique Johnson, nieces Stormi and Ashlyn Johnson, and all the countless "brothers" within the fire service.Family will receive friends at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Huntsville, Texas on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home at 1700 Normal Park, Huntsville, Texas 77340.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at www.cff.org or to the Fallen Firefighters Foundation at www. firehero.org.Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family may do so at www.shmfh.comSam Houston MemorialFuneral Home1700 Normal Park Dr.Huntsville, Texas 77340936-291-7300
