I took care of Alexander's parents' dog for a few years. We would talk about how Al and I would compete when we were at Monsey School for reading, math, etc. We had definitely NOT stayed in contact at all, even through high school. But Alex got his act together and was a nurse down in Florida. He was going to be visiting his parents around Thanksgiving time, so we were actually going to try and get together. He got killed on his motorcycle about 2 weeks before he was travelling back to New York. It was pretty devastating! As I am typing this, I feel like I always called him Al Schaft or Alexander Schaft- it was always his first AND last name-not just Al, Alex or Alexander! I don't know where his older brother is but I always remember him being REALLY COOL!!!
