Velbile Slater **

Velbile Ann Slater was born into this life on May 5, 1960 in Hayti, Mo, the daughter of Robert Earl Flowers and Veola Slater.

Velbile was a resident of Springfield, Illinois, the mother of her one and only child, Shavette Tanáe Slater. 

While residing in the Springfield, IL, she worked many years for the Secretary of State where she was scheduled to retire (August 2020), but God saw fit to call her home to retire early from her earthly living to her new heavenly home.

Velbile was a woman of integrity and faith. A devoted daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Silas Johnson.

Velbile was an avid reader, in her spare time you could often find her reading and cashing out at the slots. She was a huge Saint Louis Cardinals fan and took so much honor in spending as much time as possible with her family, especially with her mother, daughter, siblings and grandchildren.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2020 Velbile was called home to be with the Lord where she is now eternally healed from all sickness. 

Velbile was loved by many and will truly be missed. 

She leaves not to mourn, but to cherish her memories, her mother, Veola Slater; daughter, Shavette Slater; grandchildren, Ardasia Faine, Shareca Slater, and Kayleigh Adams; great grandchildren, Malaysia and Kaionna Hunter all of Springfield, IL; brothers, Charles E. Slater, Sammie Slater, Robert Flowers, Brian Flowers, Lance Flowers, Reginald Flowers, Micheal Moore, and Calvin Smith; sisters, Mary (Mark) Johnson, Phylliss Lamora Flowers; uncle, Leroy Slater, and a host of many other family and special friends.

Velbile was preceded in death by her father, Robert Earl Flowers, aunts and uncle, Fannie Black, Ola Mae Hale and Paul Thomas.
