Matt died on May 10, 1994. He is survived by his parents and his sister, Jenny.
Matt is buried at Enon Cemetery. Directions to his grave are as follows: From the light at the center of Enon, go down Dayton-Springfield Road towards Springfield. Enon Cemetery is on the edge of town on your right. Go down the main road and turn left at the white building. Take your first left. Matt's grave is in the third row from the back by the pine tree.

Matt was one of the first friends I ever had. We met at Mary Help Of Christians in 3rd grade. We bonded while drawing The Superfriends while waiting in line to read to Sister Cynthia. Matt and I remained best friends thru grade school, cub scouts, Indian Valley, baseball teams, sleepovers, wiffle-ball games, high school and were even roommates after high school in our first apartment.Matt was great at everything he tried. He was an excellent tennis player, pitcher, he was brilliant, and had one of the quickest wits I have ever encountered. I have such vivid memories of riding mopeds with Kevin Buddelmeyer, Matt and Shawn Hodge in holiday valley, smoking ciggs before school in the car wash and riding around Enon in my Banana boat. He was a one of a kind human being, and I’m not sure he ever realized it. He inspired me to write comedy for a living, and not a day goes by that I don’t think of and miss him.

I was so sad to hear the news when Matt passed away. Our families met at Mary Help school and it seemed like our families got together quite a bit during those years.I remember Matt being witty (and cute).. and there seemed to always be some kind of drama going on. LOL.
I hope you find peace Matt. Miss ya!

To the Class of 88:from Jenny Peters:
Thank you for your comments and memories of Matt. It made me happy to hear how much he meant you. I'm sure he would have had as many comments and memories of all of you (and probably something disgusting as well). Have a great reunion! Keep him in your memories.

Jenny! I just got your email. Your welcome. I agree if Matt were here he would have us all cracking up. He had such greta comedic timing and insight and was always down for whatever. He was my road dog. I will never forget in the 80's he kept trying to talk me into getting a jeri curl! I remember you and him and me watching MTV singing along to Pat Benatar's Love is A Battle field except we would sing "Love is a Cattle field." How about you and your brother training your dog Khan to attack me? You told me to throw beenie weeinies at him and then turn on the dust buster which freaked him out and made him hate me! When he finaly bit me one day your mom was horrified and Matt was like "Its not Khans fault, he's a coon dog!" LOL, still miss him, think about him often. Hope to talk to you soon.Gregory Simon Jurick (Blackshear)
Thinking of you Matt on this Mothers Day weekend and anniversary of your passing. From 3rd grade until the day you died you were my best friend. I concur Thor can beat Superman and you are better than me at ping pong. RIP...ripper.............
