Carolyn and I not only went through all the grades together, Warder Park, Schaeffer Jr. High and Springfield High but we went to the same church, sang in the choir and each of us played piano for various services and singers.
We lived very close to each other off of Burnett road and played together when we were little. Our mothers were friends as well. We were also in the Brownies and Girls Scouts together. Our childhoods were intertwined. I also well remember her sister Judy and their parents Dell and Dwight Geyer.
I moved to my Father's house in Dayton, Ohio right after graduation and then joined the Navy, I never returned to Springfield to live and would only see Carolyn occasionally when I visited my Mother and went to church with her. Carolyn married the youngest son of the pastor of the church we attended, Don Reynolds and was always very active in church activities. I do believe that she was always a devout Christian.
I never met her children. The last time I saw her was at, I believe, the 35th class reunion. I lived in Arizona after 1976 and only rarely got back for visits.
She seemed to be always in a good mood. Whenever I think of her, she is smiling. She was an excellent church pianist and later became the church organist at The Second Church of God where we both attended church. She was able to play just about any church song without reading the music which I have never learned to do with any confidence so I admire that ability.
I hope she was as happy in her adult life as she was in childhood.
