Alan Memorial services for Rudy Alan Jones, 62, who entered into rest on June 18, 2018, will be conducted at Peoples Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. on July 14, 2018 in Springfield, Ohio. Interment at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in New Carlisle, Ohio will follow.

Rudy was born in Springfield on June 27, 1955, was a 1973 graduate of Springfield North High School and earned his Bachelor degree in electrical engineering at The Ohio State University in 1978. He was a resident of the Augusta, GA area for over thirty years and was employed as a Project Manager at Savannah River Remediation under the United States Department of Energy. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church in Augusta and was active there in the international Bible Study Fellowship program. Rudy founded and led a mentorship program for at-risk, inner-city youth and was a three-sport athlete, playing baseball, football, and basketball, including being a member of The Ohio State University men's junior varsity basketball team. Rudy was a devoted Ohio State fan, enjoyed Indy car racing, and was privileged to carry the Olympic torch in Augusta during the torch relay of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Carson Jones, Sr. and Gretta Ann Jones. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; daughter, Erin; brothers, Lewis (Iris) Jones, Jr., Vada (Missy) Jones, and Jason Jones; sisters, Crystal Jones and Adrienne Stillwell and several nieces and a nephew. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Arrangements by the Robert C. Henry-Clark Funeral Home.

AUGUSTA, GA – Memorial Services for Rudy Alan Jones, 62, who entered into rest June 18, 2018 will be conducted Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11 o’clock at Warren Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia. 

Mr. Jones was a resident of the Augusta area for over thirty years. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church and was very active in Bible Study Fellowship. Rudy founded and led a mentorship for at risk youth. He was a three sport athlete playing baseball, basketball and football even making the team at The Ohio State University until an ankle injury ended his time on the field. Rudy was an avid Ohio State fan and enjoyed Indy car racing as well. During the 1996 Olympic torch relay he was privileged to carry the torch for a stretch through Augusta. 

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents Lewis Carson Jones, Sr and Gretta Ann Jones. Survivors include his wife Nancy; daughter Erin; brothers Lewis Jones, Jr. (Iris), Vada Jones (Missy), Jason Jones; sisters Crystal Jones and Adrienne Stillwell and several nieces and nephews. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rudy was kind and caring classmate. I will always  hold sweet memories of fun times we shared at school. I am so happy to know Rudy knew Jesus as his personal savior and I will see him again in heaven one day. Blessing to Nancy and his family. I know he will be greatly missed.  Pam Payne - Crouse
