Edward John Ankuda

July 14, 1942 - April 17, 2024

FORT WORTH - Edward John Ankuda, Jr. passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024, at his home in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 81. Born on July 14, 1942, in Claremont, NH, Ed was the beloved son of Marguerite Linden Ankuda and Edward J. Ankuda, Sr.. He was raised in Springfield, VT.

Ed pursued his education with passion, graduating from Tufts University with a degree in Chemical Engineering before earning his MBA from NYU. In 1971, he married Judith Susan Kilmer of West Orange, New Jersey, beginning a journey of love and companionship that spanned over five decades. Their life together took them to various cities, including Morristown, NJ, New Milford, CT, El Paso, TX, and finally, Fort Worth, TX, where they retired to be closer to their grandchildren.

Throughout his career in the pharmaceutical industry, Ed left an indelible mark, holding a United States Patent for his work in developing non-woven, disposable surgical drapes and gowns. Beyond his professional achievements, Ed was known for his remarkable intellect and passion for baseball. Always a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan and true aficionado, he possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the sport. As an avid collector of baseball cards, Ed cherished his childhood collection, preserving cards of legends like Mickey Mantle. His love for the game extended to attending MLB Spring Training for many years, where he found joy in the sport while teaching his daughters the statistics of the game.

Ed loved his family and cherished moments spent raising his two daughters, Amy, and Jill. He took on the role of a father figure to his grandson Memo, while doing grandpa stuff with his other two grandsons, Nicklas Pancho, and Kilmer Roane. Ed enjoyed a special camaraderie with his son-in-law, Andrew, while Andrew appreciated Ed's knack for his witty east coast humor, clever one-liners and mostly his intellectual brain capacity.

With a gentle soul and kind spirit, Ed possessed a warmth that touched all those around him. A genuine smile seemed permanently etched upon his face, radiating joy, and brightening the day of everyone who crossed his path. He may have departed this world; his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched.

Ed is preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Ankuda; mother, Marguerite Linden Ankuda; and his father, Edward Ankuda, Sr., but his memory will forever endure in the hearts of those who loved him.

As we bid farewell to Edward Ankuda, Jr., we take solace in the memories he leaves behind and the legacy of love and compassion he leaves in our hearts. May he rest in peace, knowing he was adored by all who knew him.

We spent 53 years together through the most serious times and the most humorous times in our lives. That will never be forgotten. We melded our characters of city and country We were blessed to have the families we did. Both special in their own ways. I hope you can hug our families in the after-life. We had some astounding moments. I will not forget them. Your Wife and more. Judy Ankuda

I went to all 12 years of Springfield schooling with Ed. Some of my fondest mtmories include him, Dick Carlisle, David Sprague, Bennie White and a few others playing ball on Eddies side hill field on the Craig Hill Road. We watched Don Larsen throw the only no hitter in World Series history together in the Ankudas living room. He often sat across Bruce Cluffs poker table from me. (Interesting how he never lost and I never won???) I will miss you, my friend, but my memories live on. Rest in Peace, Eddie.....

I am saddened to learn of Ed's passing, but he will be my good friend forever. We shared classes at SHS, played a lot of tennis and I even got used to being beaten at that game on a regular basis. Ed has left this life, but his legacy will live on. Paul Hudson
