Carol Millay Wilson, 82, of Raynham passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late David Wilson, with whom she shared 35 years of marriage before his passing in 2002.
Born on December 26, 1942, in Springfield, Vermont, Carol was the daughter of Lena and Ernest Millay. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1960. After marrying David in 1967, they lived in Butte, Montana for three years before settling in Raynham in 1970.
Many will remember Carol’s friendly face from her 27 years working in the Raynham Town Clerk’s office. Her long-standing commitment to public service reflected her strong work ethic and deep connection to the town she called home.
Carol was an extraordinary mother whose warmth, kindness, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone she met. For her, food was an expression of love. Her family felt that love in every home-cooked meal. Birthday celebrations were never complete without one of her famous jello cakes, and her apple pie was a family favorite that was always requested at gatherings. Outside the kitchen, Carol enjoyed gardening, crafting, jigsaw puzzles, and, most of all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Carrie Lannan & her husband Dan, and Amy Jordan & her husband Kurt; her five grandchildren, Samantha, Christopher, & Patrick Lannan, and Kent & Kristina Jordan; her brothers, Joseph Millay, Kenneth Millay, & Richard Millay; and many nieces and nephews.
Carol cherished more than 70 years of friendship with Beverly, Nancy, and Mary, sharing trips to Hampton Beach, Ogunquit, and countless class reunions together. Even though the miles separated them, they still stayed in touch throughout the years.
After being widowed at 59, Carol joined a bereavement group affectionately known as the “Bee Gee’s,” where she found comfort and lasting friendships. In addition to their weekly meetings, the group met monthly for dinners out to celebrate members’ birthdays. Carol proudly hosted their annual New Year’s Eve party, often lasting past 1 a.m. When she could no longer drive, her friends offered a ride to make sure she was included. When Carol could no longer talk due to Primary Progressive Aphasia, her daughter Amy wrote notes that she could share with her friends, letting them know what she had been up to.
Carol’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Life Care Center of Raynham for the compassion and kindness they showed during her time there. Staff and residents alike would often mention their love of Carol’s sweet demeanor and joy to be included in the activities.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Avenue, Taunton.
