Rosalie V. Murray, 83, of Springfield, VT, passed away at Albany Medical Center on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, after a period of declining health. She was born March 24, 1942 to Gordon and Barbara (Tapper) Murray.  She lived her entire life in Springfield, graduating from Springfield High School in 1960.

Rosalie worked all her life at Fellows Gear Shaper. She started working part time while going to school and retired in 1997. She did various jobs throughout the years; starting on the mail route in the old Fellows Building, in the steno pool, filling in at the switchboard and as an executive secretary. Even after retirement Rose would still practice shorthand up until this year.

Rosalie was an artist. She loved to paint scenery in both oils and acrylics. She also ran a ceramics business out of her home in the 70’s and 80’s. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews creating art and drawings when they were younger. Nieces fondly remember going to Aunt Roses to get “dolled up” with make-up and fancy boas and jewelry. She had a flair for decorating and enjoyed decorating her home.

Rosalie was a caring and selfless daughter to family and her mom and dad. After her father’s death her mom moved in and Rosalie lovingly took care of her for 5 years until her death.

Though never married and having any children of her own she often joked she’d already raised kids. As the oldest of 8 children, she shouldered much responsibility for them, especially in the early years. Her sister Connie fondly remembers when Rose moved out into an apartment of her own. She moved in and they had great times together. The family has lost a kind and loving soul, a rock they could always count on.

She is survived by her siblings: Lee Murray, Gordon Murray Jr. (Sandra), Michael Murray (Michelle), Patrick Murray, Connie Conant, Dennis Murray (Sandy) and Chris Murray; Nieces and nephews: Karen Murray, Darin Murray (Kate), Nichole Knight (Pete Gosselin), Michael, Robert, Ann Marie & Sarah Jane Murray; Alyssa Matulonis (Mike), Kelly Baptie (Mike), Matthew Ellison, Hilary Conant; Sean Murray, Melissa Murray, Heidi Kass (Mike); great-nieces and great-nephews: Danni Granfors (Harry), Sam Murray, Eve Murray, Zachary Hall (Leanne), Paige Bromley (E.J.), Kayleigh and Kenzie Matulonis,  Brett Baptie, Olivia Ellison, Luke Ellison, Ryan Murray, Lisa Murray, Andrew Murray, Chloe, Kate and Lauren Cass. Great-great niece and nephew; Greta Bromley and Elroy Hall. Special love and thanks to brother Chris Murray’s long-time caregiver and home provider Ray Hathaway.

She is predeceased by her parents, two sisters-in-law Simone Murray (Lee) and Marcia Murray (Gorden), her nephew John Murray, brothers-in-law Scott Ellison and Roger Conant and several aunts and uncles.

A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Springfield, VT on Friday, October 3 at 11AM. Following the burial family and friends are invited to come to Rose’s home on 242 Fairground Road for food and celebration of her life.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Springfield Humane Society.
