SPRINGFIELD, VT:  Michael J. Sheehan, 47, died suddenly Tuesday at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Hanover.

He was born Dec. 19, 1942 in Springfield, the son of Kenneth and Ann (Gintof) Sheehan.  He graduated from Springfield High School in 1960 and the University of Vermont in 1965.  He received his law degree in 1968 from the University of Maine.

He was a law clerk for Parker and Richards firm in Springfield in 1967 and later became an associate of the firm from 1968 - 1972

He was deputy state's attorney in Windsor County from 1972 - 74 and was appointed Windsor County state's attorney in 1974.

Mr. Sheehan was elected Windsor County state's attorney in the fall of 1974, re-elected in 1978 and completed his term in 1982.

He operated his own law practice in Springfield since 1983.  He was a member of Springfield Elks Lodge 1560.

Survivors include his wife Kathleen (Christianee) Sheehan, Springfield, his mother, Springfield, a son Michael, Springfield, a daughter Kelly, Springfield, a stepson Lance Cpl. Michael Stanley, Camp Pendleton, Calif., a stepdaughter, Amy Stanley, Springfield: a brother Philip, Provincetown, Maryland and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral will be held Friday, 1PM in St. Mary's Church, the Rev. James Shea, pastor officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call at Davis Memorial Chapel Thursday 7-9 PM.  Members of the Springfield Elks Lodge will conduct a service at 8PM.

To me, Michael always seemed easy going, and with a quiet, yet sparkling spirit. Throughout grade school, Jr. High and High School he played sports, for our beloved Cosmos. I remember him with kindness and am sorry that he is not here with us today.
