
Jerry Tufts, 55 NORTH SPRINGFIELD -- Jerry E. Tufts, 55, of Main Street, died Thursday evening (July 18, 1996) at Springfield Hospital after a brief illness. He made his home in North Springfield for most of his life. For the past four years he was employed as a mechanic at Kelley Sales & Service in Springfield. He owned and operated 5 "T's" Trucking Co. for many years and later worked as an auto mechanic for RSD Leasing Co. in Springfield and Bearpaw Lumber in Chester. Mr. Tufts joined the U.S. Army Reserves in Chester and later served in the U.S. Army for 10 years during the Vietnam War. He was born April 7, 1941, in North Springfield, the son of Leslie and Ruth (Foster) Tufts. He was educated in Springfield schools. He married Valerie Parker on Dec. 28, 1960. Survivors include his wife Valerie of North Springfield; his father of Springfield; two sons, Christopher A. Tufts and Robin R. Tufts, both of North Springfield; a daughter, Cynthia R. Tufts of North Springfield; a brother, Milton R. Tufts of North Springfield; two grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
